Over the course of a study project, we and some four other colleagues got an idea to make an augmented narrative for children visiting the public library here in our city. The idea was to make a character and make it feel like it belongs in the environment it is put in. Simply make it feel "real". We wanted to find out whether this way of presenting narratives can be better than the traditional screens (TV and Computers). Take a look at the video and be the judge. :)

How it was made

It works by using a projector to project an animation onto a white house model made out of hard paper. The animation is made so that it had the desired view that children will be standing in, and most content is made and lit in such a way that it pops out in 3D. This is ofcourse a brief summary, in reality there is a bit more work and time involved. Google the techique projection mapping and augmented reality for a more in depth understanding.

Here are some early studies of how to transform the white model into a gingerbread house.
